Our Programs

Our Day Care Children
Children starting in our Daycare are from two years old to five years old. Children of two years are cared for in our Playgroups, while children from 2 ½ to 5 years are cared for in our range of Junior and Senior Montessori rooms.
Some of the children in these groups are full-day care while others are part-time and finish at 1pm or 2pm each day. We keep the class sizes, and teacher/child ratios small, in our groups as young children need a lot of individual care and attention.

about
Our Daycare Programme
The objective of the Daycare programme is to provide a safe, ordered, interesting and stimulating environment which is reinforced with love, encouragement and praise. In all our groups our teachings are based around the ideas of Aistear and upon the principles of Síola; Aistear/Síolta National Curriculum Framework.
The objective of the Day Care programme is to provide a safe, ordered, interesting and stimulating environment which is reinforced with love, encouragement and praise.
Our goal with the Day Care children is to provide a loving, comfortable, stimulating and interesting environment, whereby children are happy to spend their day, are secure in themselves, build relationships with teachers and their peers and benefit socially, emotionally, physically and academically from being in our care.
The goal for Day Care parents is to provide a loving, comfortable, stimulating and interesting environment for your child, whereby you are happy and content with your decision to leave your child in our care.
A day in our Daycare
A typical day goes like this….
Breakfast
Children arriving from 7.30am will be offered a choice of breakfast cereal, porridge and wholemeal toast. By 9am all groups are in session and will begin their group activities.
Our Beautiful Garden
Whenever possible Daycare children will spend part of their morning in the garden. Garden time is a mix of free play and organised play. The outdoors is one of the best learning environments for young children, providing opportunities for play, movement, communication and sensory experience on a much greater scale than indoors. Outdoor play also enables children to enjoy the natural environment and exposes children to physical activity and fresh air.
Snack Time
At tidy up and snack time children are encouraged to tidy up after themselves and to wash and dry their hands. We provide a healthy, well balanced snack, which is cooked on the premises and served hot. Drinks are available for children throughout the day, a choice of unsweetened juice or water.
After snack, children will partake in a variety of activities including yoga, dance, imaginary and role play, construction, nature walks, art & crafts and seasonal class projects.
Circle Time
Children wind down with circle time and story time. Younger children will have a nap. Nap time is supervised, and each child has their own bed, sheet, blanket and comforter if necessary. Part-time children will get ready for home-time, while the older full-day care children will have a short rest followed by a fruit snack.
Dinner Time
Dinner is served at approximately 2.45 and all meals contain healthy nourishing fresh ingredients, while also appealing to children’s tastes. After dinner, children will return to the garden for play, weather permitting. Alternatively, they will partake in indoor activities. Dress up is always popular as is playing house. The important thing is the children get to choose the activity.
Tea-time is at 4.45, and children are offered crackers or sandwiches with a selection of topping or fillings. Fruit and berries are available to children throughout the day, as are drinks.
At Home
At home time we try to ensure that parents speak to their child’s key worker every day, to get a little feedback on how your child’s day has been. We also keep written observations and all children will receive an end of year book, containing photographs and pieces of work etc.
